X Box 1 v Playstation 4
Always been a playstation man myself, back in the day I didn't think Microsoft would have the legs to stay in the race when they were both originally released.

Time has come to hand over the baton, looking to get one of these for Christmas for my 2 (TWO) lads, aged 7 and 4.

Are the pair much of a muchness or is there a definitive selling point to one of the above which means I should go for one over the other?

price wise its exactly the same, just want to know which would be more user friendly at this stage in their gaming careers. (Obviously I will have a dabble as well!)

cheers!

Are you fucking kidding me SLH?

Don't mug me off. Get the PS4 and lets not fall out again.

Re: X Box 1 v Playstation 4
Just got the XB1 mostly because most of my mates are on XB and I had the 360 so it was a natrual transition. The best answer I can give is it is a personal choice although each platform has its own unique games i.e Forza.

FWIW I downloaded FIFA16 on my XB1 as part of the package I got and played it twice - bores me to tears and no different to past FIFA games. If I had it as a disc version I would be trading it in ASAP.

PS4 - probably slightly better graphics
XB1 - more of a media machine - kinect etc

At their ages, given that most games have a 16+ rating on both of these, wouldn't a Wii be more up their collective Straββe?

FIFA is naff on both.

7 and 4?

Probably just get them a wii U for now. They'll probably enjoy it a lot more.

Unless it's more for you, in that case get a Playstation.

Re: X Box 1 v Playstation 4
Got a Wii already, my eldest pretty much runs my playstation 3 now so he is well adapted to the new generation of consoles.

Was thinking the x box 1 purely on the kinnect element which would add a dimension to it for my youngest

but then I am thinking, I do like a playstation myself.....

Re: X Box 1 v Playstation 4
My mate got the X-Box for his two (11 and 5) and he said the Kinect loses it's appeal after a while. Like the Wii...

Have played both and they are decent machines, definite jump up from both.

But they are like you say much of a muchness.

Depends who else has got a PS4 and you want to play online Fifa with.

Just saying...

Re: X Box 1 v Playstation 4
The real question people need to ask themselves is what platform do most of their on line mates play so you can continue to do so although building up contacts is easy enough once playing a while. If anyone wants some on GTAV on the XB1 give me a nudge and I will slice you open.

Re: X Box 1 v Playstation 4

This IS a big problem. Took literally 10 hours to start playing GTA on XB1 - FIFA took 2 days but console was on and off. Also have EA Access so free downloaded games like NBA, Madden, NHL etc - usually take around 6-8 hours to download but a royal pain

Little tip, get a 1TB console, 500gb is not enough with all the new games

Like he doesn't do that to me anyway!

PS4 for gamers.

PS4 then!

Xbox is too gimmicky and focussed on being some sort of media hub. PS4 is a pure games machine, and more powerful. Only downside is that they now charge for online play.

Pancho 1:18 Thu Oct 8
Re: X Box 1 v Playstation 4
Yeah that £40 fee to play online for a year is a bit of a cunty rip-off...

Kenny Powers 1:20 Thu Oct 8
Re: X Box 1 v Playstation 4
I don't pay for online play. Or does that mean I'd lose it if I cancel my PS+ ?

Pancho 1:21 Thu Oct 8
Re: X Box 1 v Playstation 4
Think so yeah - I let the PS+ lapse and haven't done it since and I can't...
